The Faroe Islands are taking the lead to promote an integrated Nordic focus on oceans during Denmark’s presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2010. This focus will culminate in the High Level Conference, Seas the Future, hosted by the Faroe Islands in Tórshavn from 5 to 7 October 2010.

Green economic growth in a changing climate has priority focus in Nordic cooperation today. Seas the Future will bring the fisheries and maritime sectors more clearly into this focus, with prominent government and industry representatives from a range of sectors sharing their perspectives on the prospects and challenges for sustainable growth in marine–based industries.

Main Conference proceedings on 6 & 7 October are divided into three thematic sessions, concluding with a High Level Policy and Panel Discussion on Sustainable Oceans Management in the North Atlantic. See under programme on the menu for updated details.
Arrangements will get underway on Tuesday evening 5 October with a welcome reception.

NEW NORDIC FOOD will be featured in all Conference catering at Seas the Future, a culinary concept and approach highlighting top quality local Nordic produce  - including the very best of seafood  - based on the principles of purity, simplicity, security and ethics.
